THE KING MUST DIE

Trying to find information about the songs my family sung when I was growing up.  Thus far, I know that “The Lake Isle of Innisfree” is actually a William Butler Yeats poem, “Drunken Sailor” is a sea shanty originally sung to accompany tasks on board a ship that “required a bright walking pace,” and “Billy Barlow” was originally called “Cutty Wren” and was thought—by some—to be about the human sacrifice of the year-king.
